Make Building Automation Easy
Monitoring and controlling building automation systems entails a juggling act of keeping the temperatures within a specified range, having the lights on during work hours, monitoring device failures, and maintaining a notification system when malfunctions occur. The advantage to doing all of these is that a building automation system will have lower energy usage and maintenance expenses opposed to one that has no automation system.
Building automation is the centralization of networked systems to control a building’s facility systems including mechanical, security, fire and flood safety, lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and creates a more reliable work environment. It also allows the management team to pursue sustainable practices and reduce utility costs.
As the popularity of smart buildings continues to rise, innovative technologies to assist in monitoring and controlling building systems continue to be introduced with more and better features. One such example is the WAGO Power Cage Clamp® CTV (Current Transformer and Voltage Measuring) device. This new product is intended to provide a tool-free, all—inclusive way to measure current and voltage directly at the point where power is present. An integrated fuse protected voltage path provides protection for energy measurement devices in downstream circuits. The current transformer has a rated conversion ratio of 250 A / 1 A allowing for precise measurement with an accuracy class of 0.5 according to EN 61869-2. The 5-pole CTV Module terminations (2 x S1 and 3 x S2) are color-coded for accuracy and use maintenance-free, push-button connections. Additionally, the CTV Module can be marked with either WAGO’s continuous marking strip or the WMB Marking System.
A building automation system will mainly control the environmental temperature, increase or decrease systems which vary according to occupancy and energy demands, monitor system performance, and signal alerts when required. This balance of primary building automation functions creates a more user-friendly building.
