The sensors operate on the principle of diffuse reflection, utilizing plastic optical fibres with an axial optic position. They are capable of functioning in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C. The optical fibre core has a diameter of 0.5 mm, and the head is crafted from nickel-plated brass, ensuring durability.
