OnRobot Palletizing & Slip Sheet Handling

End-of-arm tooling, vertical-reach extension, and pallet fixturing for cobot palletizing of cases, bags, drums, and slip sheets. Built around the Lift100 7th axis, 2FGP20 reinforced electric gripper, VGP20/VGP30 pneumatic vacuum, and the OnRobot Pallet Station.

Cobot palletizing succeeds or fails on three things: vertical reach (most pallets are taller than a UR20's 1750 mm reach), EOAT match to the product (cases want vacuum, totes want claw, bags want a bag-specific cup), and repeatable pallet fixturing at the pick and place positions. OnRobot's palletizing kit covers all three. The Lift100 adds 900 mm of vertical travel to any UR, Doosan, or Yaskawa cobot. The 2FGP20, VGP20, and VGP30 cover the three most common product profiles. The Pallet Station fixes pallet location to a known coordinate so you don't recalibrate every shift.

Choose the right palletizing EOAT

Product Profile Best OnRobot Tool Payload Why
Cases & cartons (5–20 kg) 2FGP20 electric gripper Up to 20 kg Reinforced palletizing arms, electric (no air supply), works on closed-flap and crushable cartons
Cases with smooth top surface (5–20 kg) VGP20 vacuum gripper Up to 20 kg Pneumatic vacuum, faster cycle than mechanical jaws, requires shop air
Heavy cases & bulk bags (20–30 kg) VGP30 high-payload vacuum Up to 30 kg Pairs with UR30 or Doosan H-Series; configurable suction cup zones for foil/bag pickup
Slip sheets (kraft, plastic, fiberboard) VGP20 with foil/bag cup kit Sheet weight Configure suction cups for thin-film grip; dispense from magazine between layers
Tall pallet builds (over 1500 mm) Lift100 7th axis lift 100 kg lift cap. Adds 900 mm of vertical travel — enables full Euro-pallet (1200×800×~2000 mm) builds with UR10e/UR16e
Multi-pallet cell layouts Pallet Station (single or double) Fixed-coordinate pallet guides eliminate per-shift recalibration; double-sided enables continuous pallet swap-out

A complete palletizing cell

A typical OnRobot palletizing cell pairs four parts:

  1. Cobot: Universal Robots UR20 or UR30 for payload reach; UR10e/UR16e if your case weight is under 10–16 kg and you'll add Lift100 for vertical reach. Yaskawa HC30PL is a strong drop-in alternative for heavier cases.
  2. EOAT: 2FGP20 for cartons; VGP20 or VGP30 for vacuum-friendly tops; bag-cup kits for porous/foil products.
  3. Lift100: Required when stack height exceeds the cobot's vertical reach (almost always for full pallets). Includes its own controller and cable kit.
  4. Pallet Station: Fixes pallet position so the program stays repeatable when pallets are swapped.

Layer above the hardware: D:PLOY Palletizing — OnRobot's no-code wizard for mixed-pallet patterns, slip sheets, and multi-SKU lanes. Configurable in hours, not weeks. Browse the full OnRobot brand catalog →

Palletizing FAQ

2FGP20 vs VGP20 — which palletizing gripper is right for cases?

The 2FGP20 is electric and grips the case mechanically with reinforced palletizing arms — it works regardless of case top condition (sealed, open, dusty, crushable) and needs no compressed air. The VGP20 is pneumatic vacuum and is faster on cases with clean, smooth tops — but it requires a shop air drop and struggles on porous corrugate. Rule of thumb: clean sealed cartons with air available → VGP20. Mixed case condition or no air → 2FGP20.

Do I need the Lift100 for my pallet build?

Calculate the top of your tallest pallet build, add the gripper height (~150–250 mm depending on EOAT), and compare against the cobot's working envelope. A UR20 reaches ~1750 mm vertically from the base; a UR10e reaches ~1300 mm. For Euro-pallet builds approaching 2000 mm of stacked product, Lift100's additional 900 mm of vertical travel is what makes the application possible without going to a full industrial palletizer.

Can OnRobot palletizing tools handle slip sheets between layers?

Yes — the VGP20 with a foil-and-bag suction cup configuration handles kraft, plastic, and fiberboard slip sheets dispensed from a magazine. D:PLOY Palletizing lets you configure slip sheet placement at the layer interval of your choice without writing program logic.

What's the typical throughput of an OnRobot cobot palletizing cell?

Throughput depends on cobot model, case weight, case dimensions, pallet pattern, and whether the cell runs in collaborative or non-collaborative mode (with safety scanners). A UR20 with the 2FGP20 in standard cobot palletizing applications typically handles 5–10 cases per minute. For higher throughput, a Yaskawa HC30PL with VGP30 paired with safety-rated speed-and-separation monitoring can run faster. Contact us for a cycle-time estimate based on your specific case profile.

Which cobots does the Lift100 support?

Lift100 supports Universal Robots (UR10e, UR16e, UR20, UR30), Doosan, Yaskawa, Denso, FANUC, KUKA, and ABB — each with a brand-specific cable and accessory kit. Lift100 includes its own control unit and is configured in D:PLOY alongside the cobot.
