The SMC RBC1007 is a self-compensating hydraulic shock absorber from the RB series, built with an M10 x 1.0 outer-tube thread and a 7 mm absorption stroke. It dissipates up to 5.88 J of energy per cycle across a collision-speed range of 0.05 to 5.0 m/s, decelerating moving loads smoothly without the manual orifice tuning that adjustable dashpots require. The "C" designation indicates the factory cap version, and two mounting hexagon nuts are supplied as standard.
With-cap advantage: The resin contact cap spreads the impact load across the striking face, so the surface the piston rod hits does not need to be hardened to HRC35, unlike the basic capless type. The cap is a replaceable wear part (SMC RBC10C), which protects the rod and extends serviceable life in repetitive stop applications.
Self-Compensating Absorption
The RB series uses a porous, multi-orifice construction that meters oil flow according to the speed and mass of the incoming load. A single RBC1007 handles high-speed light loads and low-speed heavy loads within its rated range using the same setting, which removes the trial-and-error adjustment step during commissioning and keeps deceleration consistent as line conditions vary. To reach the rated 5.88 J, the full 7 mm stroke must be used.
