Universal Robots | Collaborative Robot
Heavy-Duty Palletizing & Machine Tending — Maximum Payload, Compact Footprint.
The UR30 is Universal Robots' highest-payload collaborative robot — purpose-built for the class of industrial tasks that have always demanded traditional industrial robots with full safety caging: palletizing heavy cartons, multi-gripper machine tending, high-torque screwdriving, and transfer of heavy fabricated components between workstations.
Built on the same proven 2-1-3 joint architecture as the UR20, the UR30 delivers 30 kg payload (up to 35 kg with boundary conditions per manual) at 1300 mm reach — with a base footprint of just Ø245 mm. Software-optimized motion control lets the UR30 operate at full speed and acceleration even at maximum payload and maximum reach, a capability made possible by UR's joint stress reduction algorithms that minimize mechanical wear across the full duty cycle.
With IP65 protection, any-orientation mounting, and ISO 14644-1 Class 4 cleanroom certification, the UR30 is deployable in demanding industrial environments — and with 17 configurable safety functions and PLd Category 3 compliance, it can operate collaboratively alongside workers subject to a completed risk assessment.

30 kg Payload at Full Speed and Full Reach
The UR30 is engineered to operate at maximum speed across its full payload range at maximum reach — not a theoretical peak that requires de-rating load or velocity in practice. Software motion control optimizes joint trajectories to maintain performance across extended high-duty-cycle operation.
Eliminate Heavy Lifting Injuries
Repetitive manual handling of loads over 10–15 kg is among the most common causes of workplace musculoskeletal injury. The UR30 permanently removes those tasks from the workforce — consistent, fatigue-free, every shift.
Multi-Gripper Machine Tending in a Single Pass
The UR30's payload headroom supports complex multi-tool end-of-arm configurations. Load a raw part, eject a finished part, and clean the fixture in a single uninterrupted cycle — maximizing machine utilization without adding cycle time.
High-Torque Screwdriving
Boasting 25% more torque than comparable cobots, with a built-in force/torque sensor, the UR30 delivers consistent fastener engagement in tight and hard-to-reach areas. Steady mode prevents protective stops while maintaining ISO safety compliance during extended screwdriving cycles.
IP65 Protection — Deploy in Harsh Environments
Full IP65 arm protection against dust and water ingress. The UR30 operates in metal cutting, foundry, food processing, and other environments where washdown or airborne particulate would damage unprotected equipment.
Redeploy Across Heavy Applications
When production requirements change, the UR30 moves with them. One robot across palletizing, machine tending, welding, and material transfer — maximizing automation ROI across your facility's heaviest tasks.
The UR30 targets the heaviest end of collaborative automation — applications where payload has historically required traditional industrial robots with full safety infrastructure and dedicated floor space.

Palletizing & Depalletizing
Handles heavy cartons, bags, bundles, and totes with consistent speed and precise placement. Eliminates manual pallet-building injuries and ensures uniform stack quality across all shifts. The UR30's 1300 mm reach covers standard pallet footprints from a single base position — no repositioning required between layers.
High-Torque Screwdriving
Consistent torque control and a built-in force/torque sensor deliver accurate fastener engagement even in confined areas difficult for human reach. Force sensing provides real-time feedback on fastener seating for integrated quality verification.

Multi-Gripper Machine Tending
Support multiple end-of-arm tools simultaneously. Reach deep into CNC enclosures, remove a finished part, clean the fixture, and load new stock all in one continuous motion — with payload headroom for heavy grippers, multiple part nests, and integrated part-presence sensors.
Welding
1300 mm reach covers large weld envelopes on heavy fabrications. Any-orientation mounting allows ceiling or side-wall installation for optimal joint access, and force sensing enables consistent torch positioning across complex weld geometries.

Heavy Material Handling & Transfer
Move heavy castings, forgings, assemblies, and fabricated components between workstations, conveyors, and inspection stations. Compact Ø245 mm base allows installation in constrained floor spaces between existing equipment.
Dispensing, Finishing & Quality Inspection
Consistent force control enables repeatable adhesive dispensing, deburring, and sanding on large or heavy workpieces. Paired with a vision system, the UR30 supports inline quality inspection of heavy components without reducing throughput.
Industries: Automotive & tier suppliers, CNC job shops, metal fabrication, foundry & casting, food & beverage packaging, plastics & injection moulding, aerospace sub-assembly, and any operation where heavy repetitive lifting is a current ergonomic risk or productivity bottleneck.
The UR30 is built on Universal Robots' collaborative safety architecture — 17 configurable safety functions, force/torque sensing, and full EN ISO 13849-1 PLd Category 3 compliance. Even at 30 kg payload, the UR30 is designed to operate in shared workspaces with appropriate risk assessment and safety configuration in place.
A documented risk assessment per ISO 10218-2 and ISO/TS 15066 is mandatory before deployment in any collaborative application. At maximum payload (30–35 kg) and maximum reach (1300 mm), safety-rated reduced speed, force/power limiting, or physical guarding may be required depending on your specific application, end-effector, and workpiece. Contact ADI or a certified UR integrator to evaluate your installation before ordering.

The UR30 and UR20 share the same 2-1-3 joint architecture and are frequently compared. Here's how they differ:
| Specification | UR30 | UR20 |
|---|---|---|
| Payload | 30 kg (up to 35 kg) | 20 kg |
| Reach | 1300 mm | 1750 mm |
| Repeatability | ±0.1 mm | ±0.05 mm |
| IP Rating | IP65 | IP54 |
| Best For | Maximum payload — palletizing, heavy tending, high-torque screwdriving | Long reach — wide conveyor spans, large cell layouts, elevated mounting |
If payload is the primary constraint — choose the UR30. If reach is the priority — the UR20's 1750 mm arm covers larger work envelopes with 10 kg less maximum payload.
The UR30 is available with two software platforms. Both run on the same robot arm — the difference is in the controller generation and software capabilities.

The UR30 is engineered to maintain full speed and acceleration across its entire payload and reach envelope. UR's motion control algorithms reduce stress on the 2-1-3 joint architecture and maintain path accuracy under heavy load, ensuring consistent performance over extended high-duty-cycle palletizing and machine tending operations.
PolyScope X variants (SKU 200022, 200380, 200171, 200381, 200172, 200382) add Motion Profiles (SW 10.10.0+) — optimized path execution that reduces vibration at full payload, smooths complex paths on welding and dispensing applications, and improves cycle time on heavy tending tasks.
