The Wago 221-685 is a 5-conductor compact splicing connector with lever actuation and CAGE CLAMP connection technology, designed for copper conductors in Ex e hazardous area applications. It accepts solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors from 0.56 mm² (2010 AWG) and is rated up to 440 V and 37 A for Ex e II, with a continuous operating temperature up to 105 °C. The connector features side-entry wiring, a transparent housing for visual inspection, and is approved per UL 60079 and ATEX/IECEx Ex eb IIC Gb when used with an appropriate mounting carrier (e.g., 221-511) inside a compliant enclosure. Compact geometry (approx. 36.7 × 10.1 × 21.1 mm) and a single potential with five connection points make it suitable for power distribution, higher-load circuits, and long cable runs in industrial and process environments requiring certified Ex e components.
