The Zebra FS40-SR20F5-2R00W is a standard range FS40 fixed industrial scanner configured with a 2.3 MP global shutter sensor, the Fast 2D decoder package (up to 60 frames per second), dual Ethernet ports, red illumination, and a red bandpass filter. It is built for PLC-controlled track and trace: reading 1D and 2D codes on parts, cartons, and totes as they move through production, storage, and fulfillment, then passing the data straight to your controller over EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or Modbus TCP.
The dual Ethernet configuration lets you keep the controls network isolated on one port while a second port sends images to a local server or cloud storage. PoE is supported on the primary port, so a single cable can power and connect the scanner.
Why the red bandpass filter matters: The filter passes the scanner's own 660 nm red illumination and blocks much of the ambient plant lighting, which helps keep exposure consistent on lines with skylights, overhead LEDs, or changing light through the shift.
| Option | This Model |
|---|---|
| Lens / field of view | Standard Range (SR), 10.8 mm liquid lens autofocus, 30° H x 19° V nominal |
| Sensor | 2.3 MP, 1/2.3 in. monochrome CMOS, global shutter, 1920 x 1200 |
| Decoder package | 1D/2D Fast, up to 60 frames per second |
| Network | Dual Ethernet (PoE on primary port), plus serial, USB, and industrial protocols |
| Illumination | Red (660 nm LEDs), field replaceable module |
| Filter | Red bandpass |
Conveyor and sortation scanning, work-in-process tracking on assembly lines, carton and tote identification in distribution centers, label verification at pack-out, and any station where a PLC needs a reliable read result to route, reject, or log a part. For direct part marks on metal or molded surfaces, the DPM decoder variant of the FS40 is the better starting point.

Capability on the FS40 is added by license rather than by replacing hardware. Available upgrades include the DPM decoder package, deep learning based OCR for human readable text, and the Sensor, Standard, and Advanced machine vision toolsets, which turn the FS40 into a machine vision smart camera for presence checks, measurement, and inspection on the same mounting point.
Plan for an M12 X-coded Ethernet cable for each port you use, an M12 12-pin power/I/O cable if you are not powering over PoE, a PoE+ injector or switch if you are, and a mounting bracket. Zebra also offers external lights, replacement internal illumination modules, and alternate internal filters for the FS40 family.
