The Leuze BCL 8 SM 552 is a stationary laser barcode reader with integrated decoder, designed for inline automated object identification in manufacturing and logistics environments. Operating at 600 scans per second with a 650nm red laser diode (1.3mW output), this reader supports all common barcode formats including Code 128, EAN, Code 39, Codabar, and Code 93, with configurable modulus resolution from 0.15mm to 0.5mm (6–20 mil). The device interfaces via RS 232 with freely configurable baud rates (4800–57600 baud) and features selectable output formats, multiple read modes, and AutoConfig alignment capability. With an IP 67-rated housing, M12 5-pin connector, and compact form factor (48 × 40.3 × 15mm), it operates from 4.75–5.5VDC at maximum 250mA, making it suitable for integration into control systems and production lines requiring reliable, high-speed barcode scanning and decoding.
