The remastered 4K+ resolution Gocator family. 9-megapixel imager, X resolution down to 2.5 microns, and HDR Mode for single-exposure scanning of shiny and matte surfaces together. The Gocator 2600 Series is LMI's highest-resolution line profiler platform.

The Gocator 2600 Series is LMI Technologies' remastered next-generation 3D laser line profiler family, built around a 9-megapixel imager that delivers up to 4192 data points per profile - more than 2x the resolution of the Gocator 2300 or 2400 Series. Eight optical models cover the full inspection spectrum: from sub-3-micron X resolution on the Gocator 2610 (built for semiconductor BGAs) to 2-meter field of view on the Gocator 2690 (built for large-target food processing and packaging lines). The remastered platform also introduces HDR Mode, faster default scan speeds, enhanced surface flatness data quality, and a protective cover option that protects the laser and imager windows from dust, debris, and cleaning damage. Seven of the eight models use blue 405 nm lasers; the wide-FOV Gocator 2690 uses a red 660 nm laser for cost-effective large-target scanning.

What the "Remastered" 2600 Series Brings

LMI rebuilt the 2600 platform with four major enhancements over the original generation. If you have legacy 2600 sensors in service, the remastered models drop into the same applications with significant performance improvements while preserving existing job file configurations.

EnhancementWhat It Means
HDR Mode High Dynamic Range scanning captures challenging targets with mixed material finishes (highly reflective metallic surfaces alongside matte features) in a single exposure. Eliminates the multi-exposure scanning that previously slowed cycle time on EV battery, automotive, and consumer electronics targets.
Higher 4K+ Resolution The new Gocator 2610 hits 2.5 micron X resolution for semiconductor BGA dimensioning and microscopic surface defect detection. The new Gocator 2618 hits 5 micron X resolution at 20 mm FOV for EV battery pre-weld seam gap and flush measurement.
Faster Default Scan Speed Default configurations now run at higher scan rates than the original 2600 platform. Existing job files retain their original configuration and scan speeds - no need to redo measurement setups.
Enhanced Surface Data Quality A new pre-processing pipeline reduces spatial noise on flat surfaces. Features that previously sat at the edge of the noise floor - thin adhesives, micro-gaps, fine scratches - become reliably measurable. The new Gocator 2629 delivers this optimal data quality over a large 70+ mm FOV for consumer electronics scanning.

How to Choose Your Model and Part Number

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Gocator 2600 Series used for?

The Gocator 2600 Series is LMI Technologies' remastered 4K+ resolution 3D laser line profiler family, used across semiconductor advanced packaging, EV battery manufacturing, consumer electronics, automotive, rubber and tire, food processing, building materials, and packaging and logistics applications. The 9-megapixel imager and HDR Mode handle the mixed material finishes and fine features of modern manufactured products at production-line throughput. View the Gocator 2600 Series at Automation Distribution.

What does "remastered" mean for the Gocator 2600 Series?

LMI rebuilt the 2600 platform with four major enhancements over the original generation: HDR Mode for single-exposure scanning of mixed shiny and matte targets, higher 4K+ resolution including new 2.5 micron and 5 micron X resolution models (2610 and 2618), faster default scan speeds, and an enhanced pre-processing pipeline that reduces spatial noise on flat surfaces. Existing job files from the original 2600 platform retain their configuration and scan rates - no rebuilding required.

What is HDR Mode and when do I need it?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) Mode allows the Gocator 2600 Series to capture targets with mixed material finishes - highly reflective metallic surfaces alongside matte plastics, dark adhesives, or painted features - in a single exposure. Without HDR Mode, these targets require multiple exposures to avoid over- or under-exposed regions, which slows cycle time. HDR Mode is especially valuable for EV battery scanning (cell case + electrode foil + adhesive in one frame), consumer electronics (polished frame + glass + matte plastic), and automotive assemblies (sheet metal + paint + sealant).

Which Gocator 2600 model has the highest resolution?

The Gocator 2610 delivers the highest X resolution in the entire Gocator portfolio at 2.5 microns, paired with 0.22 micron Z repeatability. It is purpose-built for semiconductor BGA dimensioning, ball coplanarity measurement, and microscopic surface defect detection on advanced packaging. The Gocator 2618 is the secondary precision model at 5 micron X resolution over a 20 mm field of view, optimized for EV battery pre-weld seam gap and flush measurement.

What is the difference between Gocator 2400 and Gocator 2600?

The Gocator 2400 Series uses a 2 megapixel imager with up to 1940 data points per profile and offers both red and blue laser options. The Gocator 2600 Series uses a 9 megapixel imager with up to 4192 data points per profile - more than 2x the resolution - and adds HDR Mode, faster default scan speeds, and enhanced surface data quality. The 2600 Series is mostly blue laser (7 of 8 models) with a single red-laser wide-FOV model (the 2690). Choose the 2400 when you need red laser specifically or when its 5.8 micron X resolution (Gocator 2410) meets the precision requirement. Choose the 2600 when you need 4K+ resolution, HDR Mode, or the 2.5 micron X resolution of the Gocator 2610.

Why is the Gocator 2690 a red laser when the rest of the family is blue?

The Gocator 2690 is purpose-built for large-target scanning - 2 meter field of view, 1550 mm measurement range - where the target materials are typically light-colored, matte, and diffuse (food products, packaging cardboard, lumber, building materials). Blue laser's advantages on dark, shiny, and absorptive surfaces are not needed for these applications, and the red 660 nm laser keeps sensor cost lower for wide-FOV deployments. If you need wide-FOV scanning on dark or shiny materials, the Gocator 2670 (817 mm FOV, blue laser) is the right choice.

Do I need a GoMax accelerator with the Gocator 2600?

Not always, but often yes - especially at the higher scan rates and 4K+ resolution. A Gocator 2610 at 9 kHz generates roughly 38 million data points per second. Processing that volume in real time on a host PC requires significant CPU resources that may impact your inspection software or other line tasks. The GoMax Smart Vision Accelerator offloads the point cloud processing from your PC, leaving host resources free for measurement logic and AI inference. Contact Automation Distribution for sizing recommendations based on your specific configuration.

What is the protective cover option?

LMI offers an optional protective cover for select Gocator 2600 Series models that shields the laser and camera windows from scratches caused by dust, debris, and cleaning. The cover is recommended for high-particulate environments (machining, wood processing, food processing, abrasive manufacturing) where the sensor windows would otherwise require frequent cleaning. Contact Automation Distribution to confirm protective cover availability for your specific 2600 Series model.

Can I network multiple Gocator 2600 sensors together?

Yes - native multi-sensor alignment and networking support is built into every 2600 Series sensor. LMI Master network controllers (Master 100, 400, 800, 1200, and 2400) support 4, 8, 12, or 24 Gocator connections with synchronized power, laser safety, encoder input, and external trigger distribution. Multi-sensor configurations enable full 360-degree inspection, wide-conveyor coverage, and multi-side simultaneous scanning at the 2600 Series' 4K+ resolution.

Need help selecting a Gocator 2600 model?
