The Leuze AMS 304i 120 is a long-range optical distance sensor employing Class 2 red laser technology for non-contact distance measurement and positioning applications. It delivers a measurement range of 200120,000 mm with 2 mm accuracy and 1.5 mm reproducibility (3 sigma), supporting maximum traverse rates of 10 m/s. The sensor operates on 1830 V DC supply and provides dual industrial communication interfacesPROFIBUS DP and SSIenabling seamless integration into distributed control systems and PLC-based automation architectures.
The compact cubic housing (84 × 166.5 × 159 mm) is constructed of metal and mounts via through-hole fastening. Connectivity is via standard M12 connectors: 5-pin B-coded connectors for SSI and data lines, 5-pin A-coded connectors for power and service interface. LED status indication supports field diagnostics. Typical applications include collision avoidance systems for overhead cranes and gantry cranes, positioning control in electroplating installations, and skillet conveyor system management. The sensor complies with laser safety standards per IEC/EN 60825-1:2007.
