The Leuze AMS 358i 40 H is an optical laser distance sensor that measures distances from 200 to 40,000 mm against a reflective tape using time-of-flight principle, delivering absolute position data with 2 mm accuracy and resolutions from 0.001 to 10 mm. It supports traverse rates up to 10 m/s, operates on 18-30 V DC, and features EtherNet/IP connectivity via D-coded M12 connectors with an integrated switch. Housed in a robust diecast zinc/aluminum enclosure (84 x 166.5 x 159 mm) with IP67 protection, it includes a pre-mounted plate for installation on opposing plane-parallel surfaces, ensuring unobstructed line-of-sight for precise measurements. Typical applications include positioning of automated plant components, high-bay storage lift axes, gantry crane bridges and trolleys, and collision protection; it complies with IEC 60825-1:2007 Class 2 laser safety and 21 CFR 1040.10 standards.
