380+ SKUs Authorized US Distributor Application Engineering Support D:PLOY Platform Ready

OnRobot is an Odense, Denmark-based end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) manufacturer that builds plug-and-produce grippers, sensors and accessories for collaborative and light industrial robots. What sets the line apart is the unified Quick Changer interface: one mechanical mount, one cable, one software stack across the entire product family. Add a vacuum gripper today, a parallel gripper next quarter, a screwdriver after that — the cobot doesn't care. Programming stays consistent, and changeover takes seconds. Automation Distribution is an OnRobot Preferred Partner and stocks the full North American catalog of grippers, force/torque sensors, tool changers, the OnRobot Sander, OnRobot Screwdriver, the Lift100 7th axis, and palletizing accessories. Software Platform

D:PLOY — Application Software for OnRobot-Equipped Cobots

D:PLOY is OnRobot's no-code application builder. Instead of writing robot programs, an operator answers a guided wizard about the application — palletizing pattern, conveyor positions, gripper choice — and D:PLOY generates the complete workcell program. It then handles real-time decisions like collision avoidance, part presence and pattern logic at runtime. Four turnkey D:PLOY solutions are available:

D:PLOY Palletizing

Mixed-pallet patterns, slip sheets, multi-SKU lanes. Setup in hours, not weeks.

D:PLOY CNC

Lathe and mill tending without writing G-code-aware robot routines.

D:PLOY Packaging

Case packing, tray loading and high-mix pick-and-place from a vision feed.

D:PLOY Transferring

General pick-and-place between fixtures, conveyors and trays — fast redeploy.

OnRobot Robot Brand Compatibility

All OnRobot grippers, force/torque sensors and tool changers ship with a unified mechanical and electrical interface. Combined with the OnRobot Compute Box and brand-specific cable kits, the same gripper can move between cobot brands without re-engineering the EOAT.

OnRobot — Frequently Asked Questions

What is OnRobot end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)?

OnRobot manufactures plug-and-produce end-of-arm tooling for collaborative and light industrial robots. The product line covers 2-finger and 3-finger electric grippers (RG2, RG6, 2FG7, 2FG14, 2FGP20, 3FG15, 3FG25), vacuum grippers (VG10, VGC10, VGP20, VGP30), magnetic grippers (MG10), specialty grippers (Gecko, Soft Gripper), 6-axis force/torque sensors (HEX-E, HEX-H), the OnRobot Screwdriver, the OnRobot Sander, the Lift100 7th axis, and the Quick Changer / Dual Quick Changer tool-change system. All tools share the same mechanical and electrical interface, so a single cobot can swap between them without re-cabling or re-programming.

Which cobot brands work with OnRobot tools?

OnRobot tools are compatible with Universal Robots, Yaskawa Motoman (HC-Series), Doosan, Techman / Omron TM, FANUC (including CRX collaborative), KUKA, ABB (GoFa, YuMi), Kawasaki Robotics, Nachi, Hanwha and Kassow. Universal Robots gets the deepest native integration via OnRobot's Unified URCap; other brands integrate through the OnRobot Compute Box and a brand-specific cable kit. The same gripper can be moved between robot brands by swapping the cable kit.

How does the OnRobot Quick Changer work?

The OnRobot Quick Changer is a two-piece tool changer: one half mounts permanently to the robot flange (the "robot side", 0.06 kg), the other to each tool (the "tool side", 0.14 kg). A locking mechanism with a safety lock and locking springs lets an operator change tools in about five seconds with no screws to thread. A single Quick Changer adds about 0.2 kg to the cobot's payload budget; the Dual Quick Changer (0.41 kg robot-side plus two 0.14 kg tool-side adapters) totals about 0.69 kg for a full stack. Both are IP67-rated, with ±0.02 mm repeatability across changes, 25 kg / 30 kg rated payload (single / dual), and 5,000 tool-change operating life. The Dual Quick Changer holds two tools at once and lets a single program use both within one cycle — for example, a parallel gripper for picking and a vacuum gripper for placing, mixed in the same workflow.

RG2 vs RG6: which OnRobot 2-finger gripper should I choose?

The RG2 is the lighter, lower-payload version — about 2 kg payload with up to 110 mm stroke, suited to small assembly, light pick-and-place and benchtop UR3e / UR5e cells. The RG6 doubles down on payload (up to 6 kg) and stroke (up to 160 mm), making it the right choice for larger parts, heavier UR10e / UR12e applications, and any time you need to grip a wider object range without changing tooling. The RG2-FT adds built-in force/torque and proximity sensors directly inside the gripper — useful for force-controlled assembly where you'd otherwise need a separate HEX-E sensor.

Electric vs pneumatic vacuum gripper — which is right for my application?

The OnRobot VG10 and VGC10 are electric vacuum grippers — they generate vacuum onboard with no compressed air supply, which simplifies installation, eliminates an air drop, and lowers operating cost in environments where compressed air is expensive or unavailable. They're best for low-to-mid payloads (around 15 kg max for the VG10). The VGP20 and VGP30 are pneumatic vacuum grippers — they require shop air, but in exchange deliver much higher payloads (20–30 kg) and faster cycle times for heavy palletizing and case packing. Rule of thumb: under 10 kg or no air available → VG10 / VGC10. Over 15 kg or palletizing-heavy → VGP20 / VGP30.

What is D:PLOY and do I need it?

D:PLOY is OnRobot's no-code application platform. Instead of programming the cobot in PolyScope or vendor IDE, you walk through a guided wizard that asks about the application — pallet pattern, pick height, gripper type, conveyor speed — and D:PLOY generates the complete workcell program. Four packaged solutions exist: D:PLOY Palletizing, D:PLOY CNC, D:PLOY Packaging and D:PLOY Transferring. D:PLOY is optional — you can also program OnRobot tools directly in URCaps or your robot vendor's native environment. It's most valuable when you're deploying multiple identical cells, need to redeploy a cell to a new product family quickly, or don't have a dedicated robot programmer on staff.

Is Automation Distribution an authorized OnRobot distributor?

Yes. Automation Distribution is an OnRobot Preferred Partner. We carry the full North American product catalog — over 380 SKUs spanning grippers, sensors, accessories, cable kits, the OnRobot Sander, OnRobot Screwdriver, Lift100 and Pallet Station components. As an authorized partner, all products ship with full manufacturer warranty, and our application engineering team can spec the right OnRobot tooling for your robot brand and target application. Contact us at 1-888-600-3080 or use the contact form for project quoting.

Do OnRobot grippers come with safety certification?

The RG2 and RG6 grippers ship with TÜV-certified Cat. 3, PL d safety guards as standard. Other OnRobot tools are designed to work within the broader collaborative robot safety envelope — when the robot itself is rated for collaborative operation per ISO 10218-1 / ISO/TS 15066, the OnRobot tooling is engineered not to compromise that rating. For application-specific safety review (force limits, pinch points, cell layout), Automation Distribution can connect you with our integrator partners.
