The Schneider Electric HR4IMA12C is a Square D Surgelogic HR Series internally mounted surge protective device (SPD) specifically designed for I-Line panelboard and switchboard applications. With a 120kA per-phase surge current rating, it delivers specification-grade surge suppression for 480Y/277V three-phase, four-wire electrical systems at the service entrance or critical branch panel level. Classified as a UL 1449 Type 2 SPD, the HR4IMA12C plugs directly into I-Line panelboards and switchboards using the I-Line bus connection, eliminating the need for external conduit runs and minimizing lead lengths for superior surge suppression performance. This plug-on design significantly simplifies installation and reduces the physical footprint compared to externally mounted alternatives. The device features multi-stage suppression circuits with field-proven, fast-acting metal oxide varistors (MOVs) for transient suppression and enhanced EMI/RFI noise filtration across all critical modes. Diagnostic features include push-to-test switches, red and green status LEDs, per-mode module status LEDs, dry contacts for remote monitoring, an audible alarm with disable switch, and a surge event counter. The HR4IMA12C is housed in a NEMA 1 rated enclosure and is UL/cUL Listed to UL 1449. It complies with NEC Article 285, CSA 22.2 No. 8-M1986, UL 96A 12th Edition for lightning protection systems, and UL 1283 component requirements. The unit is part of the Schneider Electric take-back program and carries Green Premium environmental certification.
