The Leuze AMS 338i 40 is an optical distance sensor designed for absolute laser-based measurements over a range of 200 to 40,000 mm against a reflector, with 2 mm accuracy and 0.9 mm reproducibility (3 sigma). It features EtherCAT interface with integrated switch functionality at 100 Mbit/s, supports 18-30 V DC supply, and provides measurement output in 1.7 ms with temperature drift of 0.01-0.1 mm/K and max traverse rate of 10 m/s. The cubic metal housing (84 x 166.5 x 159 mm, 2.45 kg) includes M12 connectors (BUS IN D-coded 4-pin female, PWR/SW 5-pin male, SERVICE 5-pin female A-coded), LC display, membrane keyboard, through-hole mounting, and operates from -5 to 50 °C.
